Arctype ® transforms unique digital moments into art pieces that last generations.
Arctype re-engineers a traditional photographic process to turn your digital moments into premium art pieces that last generations.
The wet collodion process was the predominant form of photography in the XIX century. It involved pouring silver nitrate onto a thin sheet of black aluminium coated with a special emulsion (collodion), and then exposing the sheet while still wet. The result was a tintype, one-of-a-kind photograph with a unique aesthetic.
Arctype makes tintypes from digital images. We combine digital technology and traditional photographic processes with museum-grade and sustainable materials to create unique and lasting art pieces. Arctype also offers Limited Collection tintypes by founding photographer Arantxa Cedillo.

In the heart of Geneva, surrounded by the Alps, Arctype’s Studio works continuously to re-engineer the traditional wet-collodion process.
Photography and alchemy are together under one roof, to breathe life into the process. Every stage of the creation of your tintype – making negatives, mixing formulas, developing sheets, varnishing, framing and packing- happens within the Studio.
Arctype offers limited-edition collections of tintypes created by founding photographer Arantxa Cedillo.
